Orcoa's Innovative Dental Bacterial Detection Device and Kit Patented in USA

Oral health care has taken a significant leap forward with Orcoa's latest innovation. Orcoa Corporation, based in Osaka, Japan, has successfully registered a new patent in the United States for its oral bacterial detection device and kit. This achievement adds to Orcoa's existing eight patents in Japan, marking a significant milestone in the company's expansion both domestically and internationally.

The patented technology, designated as "PCR VESSEL, PCR VESSEL CONTAINING REAGENT, AND REAGENT CASSETTE," is a sophisticated system that amplifies and detects bacterial DNA from oral samples. This system is particularly effective in identifying periodontal pathogens, crucial for preventing and treating gum diseases.

Orcoa's device, simply referred to as "orcoa," is a game-changer in detecting periodontal disease. It works by collecting plaque from the oral cavity and detecting the DNA of specific bacteria within the plaque. This method allows for the accurate identification of periodontal pathogens, including Porphromonas gingivalis, Treponema denticola, and Tannerella forsythia, which are closely associated with periodontal diseases. The device can perform these detections within 45 minutes, making it a valuable tool in dental clinics.

Periodontal disease, affecting a significant portion of the Japanese population, is a bacterial infection caused by the buildup of plaque. It often goes unnoticed until severe symptoms like gum swelling, bleeding, and, in extreme cases, tooth loss, occur. The Red Complex bacteria, comprising P. gingivalis, T. denticola, and T. forsythia, are highly pathogenic and are key targets of Orcoa's detection capabilities.

Recent studies have also highlighted the link between periodontal disease and systemic health issues. Pathogens and toxins from periodontal disease can enter the bloodstream and potentially impact overall health, underscoring the importance of early detection and treatment.

The Orcoa device utilizes PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) technology to amplify and detect bacterial genes. It provides quantitative results, offering a new metric for reducing periodontal pathogens, a significant advancement for dental practices nationwide.

The device measures 180mm x 180mm x 200mm and weighs 2kg, operating on a power supply of 100-240V/50/60Hz. The measurement process takes approximately 45 minutes. The accompanying detection kit, recommended for storage at -20°C, includes sample collection tools, caps, dilution liquid, and detection containers. Notably, it is classified as a research analysis instrument and not a medical device.

Orcoa Corporation, established in April 2019 with a capital of 10 million yen, focuses on the sale of analysis devices and reagents, as well as the planning and sale of oral care products. Through its innovative products, Orcoa aims to support healthy and happy lives, recognizing the mouth as the gateway to overall health and wellness.
