The AOI International Hospital's Oral Surgery Department has made a significant leap in dental healthcare with the development of an AI system for dental examinations, incorporating dental X-ray images. This system, developed by the Aoi Group and patented on July 20, 2022, uses panoramic dental X-rays to screen the entire jaw and oral region.
The AI system combines technologies for diagnosing various dental diseases, automatically recognizing tooth count and numbers, and identifying periodontal bone lines. The results are displayed in an AI dental examination report, allowing for comparison with previous data. This system is expected to play a crucial role in the annual "National Dental Examination," enabling early detection of jawbone lesions and dental diseases that are not visible through regular visual check-ups.
The accumulated X-ray images and their analysis will serve as valuable healthcare data, contributing to the advancement of oral hygiene and dental medical care. The system, officially titled "Dental Examination AI System, Periodontal Disease Examination AI System, and Comprehensive Dental Examination AI System," was invented by Seiji Tajima, with the patent application submitted by both Tajima and the Aoi Medical Corporation.
